New Street Cleaning Service in Gillingham And Surrounding Parishes
What is being proposed?
Gillingham Town Council will create a new operation to undertake street cleaning in the Town Centre. The workforce will be made available to the surrounding Parishes at a daily rate based on recovery of the full costs to undertake street cleaning/litter clearance to meet Parish needs.
Who will run it?
The current GTC management team will direct the new operation. The workforce will be increased by 1 to provide the required capacity for operations within the town and will multi task to maximise performance and value.
Parishes wishing to buy man days of effort from the Town will be invited to enter into a 3 year service level agreement on a full cost recovery basis. The respective Parish Councils will be responsible for specifying the work to be done (within agreed guidelines) and for directing and overseeing day to day activity in their Parish.

The projected yearly costs are based on the report from the Forensic Accountant engaged by the Town Council to investigate and validate the financial information provided by NDDC.

Gillingham Town Council will provide an element of local service, within it's current capabilities, to the surrounding parishes at cost, with hourly rate not exceeding £ 12.50 an hour, and a daily rate not exceeding £ 100.00 per day.
